Real Wedding – Abbie and Richard Dane
Before Abbie and Richard fell in love with Hilltop Country House, their love story began when they met on a night out at university. Fast forward to Saturday 29th June 2024, when all their dreams to become a married couple became a reality. All their wedding planning and beautiful ideas translated into a picturesque fairytale.
“Thank you so much, it was incredible. Our day was absolutely perfect with you, can’t thank you enough” – Abbie & Richard.
It was a warm, mild summer day in Cheshire. Hilltop Country House full of life with an abundance of summer wedding flowers throughout the grounds. As Abbie and Richard married at the gorgeous Our Lady & St. Christopher’s Church in Romiley, Abbie spent the morning getting ready at her family home, whilst Richard prepared for the day at Hilltop’s local partnership hotel.
Abbie wore a stunning Suzanne Neville dress with square neckline and covered in elegant florals, her bridesmaids in baby blue and mother in pastel pink. Richard and his groomsmen wore Marc Darcy suits with baby blue ties. Every outfit tied in immaculately to their colourful wildflower wedding theme.

Once the knot was tied, Abbie and Richard arrived at Hilltop in a white Jaguar to begin their celebrations as Mr and Mrs Dane. With a truly British cocktail or Moretti beer in hand, their drinks reception held within Hilltop’s 17th century house and gardens. A string quartet playing in the background, the newlywed couple and their guests mingled, enjoying delicious canapes, garden games and photos being taken by Louise Jacob. Before tucking into their wedding breakfast, a few special people gave their speeches. Followed by the cutting of the cake, their first dance and evening pizzas. Abbie and Richard’s incredible day ended with lots of dancing to an indie and rock band in the Hilltop boogie room.

The Details…
But what made Abbie and Richard’s day so special to them was all the thoughtful and unique details.
Their summer wedding theme consisted of pastel colours, fresh and bright, complementing the Hilltop gardens. The flowers consisted of pastel pinks, blues, greens and yellows with a touch of whimsy, the perfect combination from Fox and Bloom florists. The marquee laid with elegant white clothed straight tables, styled by Ink & Alder. Tall, tapered candles with a brass gold touch gave a Bridgeton feel. Abbie’s mother embroidered bespoke napkins for the guests with their initials and a small flower! The welcome sign, table plan, place name cards and menus matched perfectly. As for the cake, made by Bridge and Bakes, the floral detail was just stunning.

For those that fancied a little sweet treat, there were Krispy Kreme donuts. On the bar were personalised bar mats – ‘raise a glass to the Danes’. Ink & Alder provided an audio phone guest book for guests to leave their personal message. A very fun idea which kept guests amused was a giant crossword with questions about the happy couple, a ‘sip and solve’. There were white bridal sunglasses and flip flops of course. As well as a table for their ‘generations of love’, which had all the photos of the married couples in their family, a beautiful touch.
It wasn’t only Abbie and Richard’s wedding they were celebrating on the 29th of June, but also Richard’s best man’s birthday! With a shot and a little cake, everyone sang Happy Birthday to him

Signature Cocktail Menu
His – Espresso Martini
Hers – Passionfruit Martini
Ours – K2 – a cherry-flavoured shot!
Their “Ours” shot was a memory of how Abbie and Richard met. On a night out at a university bar called K2, Richard bought Abbie a shot… and the rest is history!
