“Faultless”: Leah & Joe Share Their Colourful Spring Wedding at Hilltop Country House

Newlyweds celebrating their ceremony at Hilltop Country House wedding venue

Leah and Joe’s wedding was full of everything that reflected them as individual people and as a couple. The Hilltop team embraced all of their cool and wacky ideas and brought it all into a seamless reality. As a wedding that had so many fun and unique elements, we caught up with the gorgeous couple to reflect on their incredible May wedding day.

Creating your dream day alongside the Hilltop team

One word. Faultless. I was always looking forward to the planning process of the wedding as I LOVE to plan, and knew I would be laid back about it, but I couldn’t have done it without Hilltop.

Their attention to detail, professionalism, yet power to make you feel like one of the family were simply amazing, and I couldn’t have asked for a better team.

Leah was my right-hand man, and we clicked instantly. She is an angel in disguise and was so helpful with everything from the planning and build-up to the day itself. She was super thorough, so she knew exactly what my vision was, and was incredible in helping to bring it to life.

I always wanted our wedding to be memorable, but for reasons you wouldn’t normally think of. Yes, everyone remembers the bride walking down the aisle, but I wanted fun extras to add to the day that you wouldn’t normally see at weddings. For example, we had a horse roll and bowl like at the Blackpool arcades, an audio guestbook, a live illustrator, a band, disposable cameras, a photo booth, a surprise dance in the evening, a sweet stand, lawn games, and the list goes on.  Leah and the team went above and beyond to ensure everything was in the right place at the right time, so I didn’t need to worry about a thing. I cannot get over their passion.

Wedding themes and meaningful touches

As someone who likes to be a bit different, I knew right away that I wanted colour, and lots of it! And Hilltop was the perfect venue for this. Even though we had the bridesmaids in teal, the groomsmen with floral ties and the flowers in general, a mix of bright colours, the stunning scenery at Hilltop was just the cherry on the cake.

Liv has a real eye for design and aesthetic and helped to decorate Hilltop to fit our colourful theme perfectly, making Hilltop even more beautiful.

The bar team were a delight to work with and helped us to make the most DELICIOUS his and hers cocktails, getting creative to cater them to us perfectly. Not only did they go out of their way before the wedding breakfast to make our personalised cocktails and bring them over to the top table.

Naomi and her team cooked up a real storm, and the food was impeccable. I had a cheese tower alongside my wedding cake, which Naomi assembled faultlessly. Not to mention she spoke directly to my Auntie to ensure she was able to perfect her meal!

Emil the DJ played everything we wanted and checked that all the important songs were correct. He also took my dad’s impromptu speech like a champ and set his mic up effortlessly, so there were no long pauses or waiting around.

The bar staff were absolutely amazing and had great banter with all our guests, which is just what I’d hoped for, and the waiting staff were quick, polite and attentive; nothing was too big an ask. Not to mention, they set up the marquee perfectly.

Leah was on point with checking everything was correct and that Joe and I were all good! She also went above and beyond to help me. From keeping the secret of my dance, to helping organise our surprise ring bearer and taping the rings to a ceremony chair, to setting up 11 gifts and poems I had done for my husband and his 10 groomsmen, so I didn’t have to think about getting someone to do it. I have no words to describe how incredible she was.

The flow of the wedding day

With that being said, I knew I probably had more extras than any wedding ever (trust me, I’ve been told), and the team at Hilltop were simply incredible with this.

I’ll be honest, with everything going on and a total of 200 guests, I was fully prepared for a few bumps in the road, but Hilltop simply didn’t allow it. It was so smooth, I can’t even describe it. A perfect day that honestly felt like a dream and was everything I’d hoped for and more!

Most cherished moment

As the bride, my most memorable moment had to be seeing Joe’s face for the first time when I walked down the aisle, however the day was too incredible not to mention some other memorable moments: my godson Ted going on Joe’s shoulders, who was on his groomsmen’s shoulders, everyone’s reaction to the boogie room (I didn’t see it empty once), the chaos of the surprise ring bearer, using my dress as a parachute like in P.E. at school, Joe carrying me to the swing, my surprise dance.

A day I wish I could live over and over again. Thank you, Hilltop x
