Celebrate a Sunny September Wedding at Hilltop Country House

Lydia and Matt travelled from the church to their reception at Hilltop Country House in a red sportscar

When planning a summer wedding, couples tend to forget how gorgeous and summery a September wedding really is. September is known as a calm month for the weather as it is still lovely and warm. The nights may be getting darker, but this only means you get the best of both worlds – bright, light skies for your wedding day, and the dark evenings allow you to enjoy the magical lighting that Hilltop Country House brings. September is just the best for late summer celebrations to really drag out that summer season. There are no major holidays in September, meaning guests will be free. Additionally, you can make savings on your honeymoon as schools are back in business!

Why September is the Ideal Wedding Season at Hilltop Country House

Summer is still very much in full swing at Hilltop Country House during September. The lawns are a striking green, the variety of colour in the flowers throughout the gardens is breathtaking, and the house bursts with greenery. If you’re lucky, you might have the cows in the neighbouring fields—the best venue for a sunny September wedding.

Lydia and Matthew married in September and wouldn’t have chosen any other month. After their church ceremony in Prestbury, they drove back to Hilltop Country House in a red MG car for a champagne country garden reception with all their guests. The weather was glorious, so guests mingled in the gardens, drinking champagne and nibbling on canapes while listening to an excellent jazz trio. What a perfect combination!

Embracing the Beauty of September for your Wedding Day

Lydia and Matthew’s wedding theme was ‘colourful’. Since Lydia is a talented artist, she wanted to have plenty of colour throughout. Their table names were also drawn and designed by Lydia. The marquee was decorated with eye-catching bunting and tables with abundant vibrant flowers. Lydia and Matthew’s wedding breakfast menu started with a choice of two tartlets: smoked salmon, asparagus, and dill and red onion and goat’s cheese. Followed by a delicious lamb fillet served with minted pea mash green beans, carrots, and a wine jus. As they had several wonderful bakers in the family, guests brought homemade cakes of different flavours for everyone to enjoy as their dessert.

Their photographer, Tony Fanning, captured the day just perfectly. September sun allows gorgeous soft lighting. The sunsets are always outstanding at Hilltop but even more fantastic in September because of the equinox – when the amount of daytime is equal to the amount of nighttime. Tony took full advantage of our country garden setting and the September golden hour.

In the evening, Lydia made a fabulous dress change, and she, Matthew, and their guests danced the night away in the nightclub listening to the Hard Candi Band.

“We had our wedding at Hilltop and Clare and her team made it the wedding beyond our dreams. It was better than we could have imagined! Nothing was too much trouble, we were always welcome, and Ian’s food was truly sensational. It felt like we were part of the family. Hilltop really is the perfect venue, and Clare really is the perfect host; we can’t wait to have an excuse to return! All our love, Lydia and Matthew” – Lydia and Matthew
